Catch up

So there seems to be some confusion on how my back is doing. I'm going to give a clear timeline, because maybe it'll keep me feeling positive.

mid Jan - rupture L4/5 disc in back; fly to L.A. for "Wicked"; see chiropractor; get xrays and mri; see neurosurgeon; get diagnosis of surgery.

Feb to Mar - fly home; get second opinion, which is the same as the first opinion on opposite coast; try A.R.T. and PT; go back to surgeon and schedule surgery.
end of Mar - have surgery.

April - have follow up appt; start swimming one week and one day after surgery.

May - have 5 week follow up, no running until Aug; start cycling and swimming with team (TriLife); find out how to withdraw from NYC marathon; start PT.

Jun-Jul - continue training and PT; end July with cheering althlete competing in Lake Placid IronMan.

Aug - finish with PT; try running and decide to wait until after race; complete 1.2 mile swim followed by 56 mile bike in NH. at end of month start running.

Sept - race my only triathlon of the year, a sprint distance; continue to run.

Oct - start doing day work helping to put together the sound system in shop for a new show; see osteopath; get told to stop running and to go back into PT; start with new PT; get told not to do anything, but a couple of stretches he gives me.

Nov - get to add 15-20 mins swimming every other day; local 1 strikes; picket line hard on the body; still waiting for perrmission to do more.

So there it is. Apparently, I need to work on body mechanics if I want to remain injury free. More later
